Hello! Thanks for visiting Lifestyle Steps.
My name is Ted Nyquist. I am a Family Practice physician in McMinnville, Oregon, where I live with my wife, Cami. I graduated from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in 1990. I completed my Family Practice residency in Boise, Idaho in 1993, and I have been seeing patients at the West Hills Healthcare Clinic ever since.
I have always had an interest in promoting a healthy lifestyle, both personally and professionally. But, frankly, even as a trained physician, until recently I was unaware of the vast knowledge and momentum for change that was gathering around the new specialty of Lifestyle Medicine. A few years ago I became aware of this after a patient of mine informed me of her intent to make significant lifestyle changes and that we may need to adjust her medications accordingly.
Always curious, I was lead to look into this further. I soon found myself immersed in the vast sea of information that seemed to be showing that an evidence based healthy lifestyle should be the foundation for the health of not only my patients, but also for me and my family as well.
To my pleasant surprise, I realized that I did not have to “reinvent the wheel” of how to become a lifestyle medicine expert. I simply committed to become a board certified member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. I was thankful to be able to do this in 2018.
This site, Lifestyle Steps, is a tool I use to work along with those who are joining me on a healthy lifestyle journey. I hope you find it useful, and I appreciate any comments or stories you would like to share.
Best wishes on the journey,
