Boosting Your Immune System

Be prepared for cold and flu season.

With people traveling so much these days, we see difficult infections moving through our communities not only in the Winter months, but just about any time of the year. There are many steps we can take to keep our immune systems tuned and ready when influenza and other nasty viruses come around.

Besides getting a flu shot each year and washing our hands often, what else can we do?

(Each suggestion is linked to a video from Nutritionfacts.org)

Start Your Day With Green Tea (and have a cup or two later in the day as well)

Have Some Blueberries for Breakfast (or throughout the day)

Eat Plenty of Fruits and Veggies (especially cruciferous Broccoli, Califlower, and Cabbage)

Don’t Forget About Kale

Take Care of Your Microbiome (by eating plenty of fiber and probiotics if needed)

Add a Little Raw Garlic to Your Soups and Stews (and enjoy less risk of cancer too)

Enjoy Kiwi Fruits

Sprinkle Nutritional Yeast on Your Kids’ Popcorn

Use Nutritional Yeast if Under Physical or Emotional Stress

Eat Other Fungi like Mushroom

Get Plenty of Sleep

Remember, if you have a cough or fever, to stay home and rest. Seek medical attention if the symptoms become severe.
